Richard J. Gherardi, President Sand Dollar Development
Richard J. Gherardi is the principal owner and president of several Long Island
building companies. Mr. Gherardi has been involved in residential and commercial
building projects, concrete construction and land development. He has worked in
the following areas:
· Single and multi-family housing
· New construction and renovation
· Commercial/retail construction
· Public sector projects
· Public sidewalks and curb work
· Speculative Building
Mr. Gherardi is involved in numerous high-end custom-designed homes that, when
completed, will list for over six million. One of his industrial projects is pre-leased
and he is presently at work on the development of the former Warner LeRoy
property, a 50-acre estate in Amagansett.
An authority on all facets of the building industry, Mr. Gherardi’s comments and
related building projects have appeared in “The New York Times,” “Newsday,” and
Builder’s Magazine. He was awarded Builder of the Year (2000) by Long Island
Builders Institute, and several of his projects have been cited for excellence. Mr.
Gherardi has been listed in America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals since
2003 and was featured in the “Five People to Watch” in the National Association of
Home Builders 2001 quarterly publication.
Mr. Gherardi earned a bachelors degree in business and marketing from St. John’s
University in Queens, NY. An avid fisherman and golfer, he resides in East Hampton
with his wife Debra and one son.
